Expert Committee on Specifications for Pharmaceutical Preparations (ECSPP)

Expert Committee illustration

The WHO Expert Committee on Specifications for Pharmaceutical Preparations (ECSPP) was established in the very first World Health Assembly in 1948 to provide advice to WHO and its Member States. The norms, standards and guidelines (including The International Pharmacopoeia) of WHO on the quality assurance of pharmaceuticals are approved by the Expert Committee and adopted as international standards. Members of the Committee are selected from the members of the WHO Expert Advisory Panel on the International Pharmacopoeia and Pharmaceutical Preparations.

The ECSPP is convened annually and the report of each meeting includes newly adopted guidelines in its annexes. The 46th meeting will be held at WHO headquarters, Geneva from 10 to 14 October 2011. This web page provides information on expert committees, membership, rules that establish and govern expert committees; access to expert committee meeting reports.
