Launch of WHO QualityRights Project & Tool Kit
New York, 28 June 2012
On 28 June 2012 the World Health Organization (WHO) launched the QualityRights Project and Tool Kit. The event outlined WHO’s global campaign to improve care and halt human rights violations against people with mental health conditions.
Speakers with a wide range of experiences – from the world of Hollywood to the urban slums of India – provided their personal insight and perspectives on the dire situation faced by millions of people with mental health conditions around the world, and on how the WHO QualityRights breaks new ground in the drive to raise human rights and quality standards in mental health and social care.
The event brought together Ambassadors and other representatives of Missions to the United Nations, representatives from UN agencies, Foundations, civil society, the media and other key partners who have a critical role to play in bringing an end to abuses and promoting the rights of persons with mental health conditions.
