Noncommunicable diseases and their risk factors

Launch of the WHO Global Communications Campaign at the United Nations in New York.

A WHO Global Communications Campaign on NCDs was successfully launched in New York on Monday 18 July at a WHO-organized side-event to the - ECOSOC High-level Political Forum on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Two additional events were organised in New York to coincide with the launch of the Campaign. The first was hosted by NCD Child, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart and Stroke Association. This event focused on youth as a constituency with high health literacy and that has the potential to be strong advocates for NCD prevention and control.

The second was hosted by Soon-Young Soon of the International Alliance of Women. This event focused on how women can be mobilised as advocates for NCD prevention and control. We presented the campaign followed by a presentation from the Task Force on Women and NCDs and small group discussions.
