The European Federation of Parasitologists (EFP) honours NTD Director with a Senior Scientist Award.

The European Federation of Parasitologists has named Dr Lorenzo Savioli, Director of the WHO Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases, as the recipient of its prestigious Senior Scientist Award.

The award recognizes outstanding achievements in the control of parasitic diseases and contributions to the field of parasitology.

“I am both honoured and humbled by this award.” said Dr Savioli. “I dedicate it to the World Health Organization for its leadership in the fight against parasitic diseases, and in particular, neglected tropical diseases”.

The European Federation of Parasitologists, which was founded in 1966, promote the exchange of knowledge on parasitic organisms and diseases and coordinates research among European scientists.

It groups more than 30 national societies of parasitology from different European countries.

A European Multicolloquium of Parasitology is held in a country in Europe every four years.
