World Health Organization publishes an updated edition of the Technical Report Series on control of the leishmaniases

The World Health Organization has published a completely revised and updated edition its technical report series on the leishmaniases.
It's been 20 years since the first edition was written and the new book includes major scientific breakthroughs that have been made in the treatment, diagnosis and prevention of leishmaniasis.

"This revised and updated edition includes new therapeutic recommendations for visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis and the use of rapid diagnostics tests …...[the book also] provides details on the management of leishmania-HIV coinfection and considers social factors and climate change as risk factors for the increased spread of the disease."
WHO estimates that 350 million people are at risk of contracting leishmaniasis worldwide and some 2 million new cases occur every year.
