'Donde Como' (Where Now)
Artist's impression of how the infected triatomine bug transmits the parasite (Trypanosoma cruzi). As the bug bites an exposed area of the skin, it defecates close to that bite. The parasites enter the body when the person bitten by the bug instinctively reacts to the bite and smears the infected faeces of the bug into the bite. Infection can also occur when the faeces comes into contact with the eyes, the mouth or into any skin break.
'Mala Sangre' (Bad Blood)
Artist's impression of the microscopic image of the parasite, the Trypanosoma cruzi.
