WHO global action plan for the prevention and control of NCDs 2013-2020

WHO Discussion Paper on the development of a WHO global action plan for the prevention and control of NCDs covering the period 2013 to 2020
In response to paragraph 3.4 of World Health Assembly resolution WHA64.11 and paragraph 2.4 of Executive Board resolution EB130.R7, requesting the WHO Director-General to develop a WHO global action plan for the prevention and control of NCDs covering the period 2013-2020, the WHO Secretariat has prepared a WHO Discussion Paper on the development of the 2013-2020 Action Plan (available at the right-hand side) for discussion during the First informal consultation with Member States and UN Agencies on the same topic, which will be convened on 16-17 August 2012 in Conference Room C at WHO headquarters in Geneva.
The consultative process is as follows:
- Member States and UN Agencies will be invited to share their comments in response to the WHO Discussion Paper during the first informal consultation on 16-17 August 2012 and/or by sending an email before 7 September to firstname.lastname@example.org. Relevant NGOs and selected private sector entities are invited to share their views before 7 September 2012 using the same email address.
- A first informal consultation with Member States and UN Agencies which will be held on 16-17 August 2012 in Geneva. The scope and purpose of the first informal consultation, expected outcomes and questions for further discussion are included in the WHO Discussion Paper (pages 16 to 18).
- The outcomes of the first informal consultation will serve as an input for the WHO Secretariat to prepare a ‘zero draft’ of the 2013-2020 Action Plan, for discussion at a second informal consultation for Member States and UN Agencies to be held on 1 November 2012 in the Executive Board Room at WHO headquarters. The outcome of the second informal consultation will serve as an input for the WHO Secretariat to prepare a draft 2013-2020 Action Plan for submission to the Sixty-sixth World Health Assembly, through the Executive Board.
