Objective 3: Reduce risk factors

Global NCD action plan

Objective 3 - To reduce modifiable risk factors for NCDs and underlying social determinants through creation of health-promoting environments

While deaths from NCDs mainly occur in adulthood, exposure to risk factors begins in childhood and builds up throughout life, underpinning the importance of legislative and regulatory measures, and health promotion interventions that engage State and non-State actors from within and outside the health sectors, to prevent tobacco use, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, obesity and harmful use of alcohol and to protect children from adverse impacts of marketing.
