Call for public comments - Scoping WHO Guidelines on saturated-fatty acid and trans-fatty acid consumption
The WHO Nutrition Policy and Scientific Advice Unit within the Department of Nutrition for Health and Development (NHD) in cooperation with internal partners is in the process of developing and updating evidence-informed guidelines on saturated-fatty acid and trans-fatty acid consumption following the newly adopted procedures established in the WHO Handbook for Guideline Development.
According to these procedures, NHD has established the WHO Nutrition Guidance Expert Advisory Group (NUGAG) guided by the WHO Steering Committee for Nutrition Guidelines Development to advise WHO during the guideline development process. Specifically the NUGAG Subgroup on Diet and Health will support WHO in drafting guidelines on saturated-fatty acid (SFA) and trans-fatty acid (TFA) consumption.
Also consistent with the WHO Handbook for Guideline Development, all interested parties are invited to comment on the scope of the proposed update of WHO guidelines on SFA and TFA consumption. We are currently inviting interested parties to become members of the External Expert and Stakeholder Panel in order to provide feedback on the following draft scoping questions:
- Scoping WHO Guideline: Saturated-fatty acid consumption
- Scoping WHO Guideline: Trans-fatty acid consumption
You can access the draft scoping questions and tables and the electronic form for submission of comments by visiting the following link:
In order to access the form you will need to provide you email address after which you will be given a unique password to access the scoping documents and the online form for submission of comments.
We encourage you to register as early as possible. Your comments must be received by 16 March 2012.
