Fortification of condiments and seasonings with vitamins and minerals in public health: from proof of concept to scaling up

Suitable authors, working independently or as part of working teams, can submit their letter of interest by sending an email to WHO at nutrition@who.int no later than 28 February, 2014.

Kindly attach in your message the following documentation:

  • A brief curriculum vitae of the author(s), demonstrating their needed technical expertise including a list of relevant publications.
  • Proposed title of the paper.
  • A 300-word abstract outlining the issues that will be addressed in the full paper. The abstract should include the topics found in the table on the next page, as well as other relevant issues.
  • An expression of commitment to completing the paper no later than 31 July 2014, following WHO instructions for authors.

Selected authors will be notified by 7 March 2014. Financial support for the development of these papers will be available for the selected teams following WHO standard procedures for completing this work.

The World Health Organization in collaboration with Micronutrient Initiative and the Sackler Institute for Nutrition Science is convening a Consultation: Fortification of condiments and seasonings with vitamins and minerals in public health: from proof of concept to scaling up in New York City, NY, United States of America to be held on 26-27 August 2014 to discuss these issues in detail. The objective of this consultation is to review the industrial and regulatory technical considerations for the fortification of condiments and seasonings as a public health strategy.

Authors are expected to present their work at this meeting and these papers will be published in the peer-review journal in late 2014.
