Landscape Analysis: Country Assessment in Guinea
The country assessment in Guinea took place on 27 May – 8 June 2012.
Aims and objectives
The purpose of the assessment was to guide the revision of the 2005 Politique nationale de l’alimentation-nutrition and its strategic implementation plan.
Country assessment team
The assessment team was led by the Division Alimentation-Nutrition of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene with representatives from other entities of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, FAO, WHO, UNICEF, WFP, Terre des Hommes (TdH), Helen Keller International (HKI) and Action Contre la Faim (ACF).
Methodology and study sites
The team conducted a total of 82 interviews in Conakry and with programme managers and service providers in the regions of Mamou, Kissidougou, Dabola and Boffa. These regions were selected based on representation of all four natural regions yet within reasonable access from Conakry.
Consensus meeting and recommendations
The Minister of Health chaired a stakeholder consensus meeting on 8 June 2012 where the outcomes and draft recommendations of the assessment were presented to stakeholders and partners.
Follow-up action
The country team is currently finalizing the draft recommendations and full report of the assessment.
