Dr Claudia Parvanta served on an advisory panel to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in the revision of their breastfeeding promotion programmes. She is the lead author of Essentials of Public Health Communication (2011) as well as a co-author of Communicating Public Health Information Effectively: A Guide for Practitioners (2002). She was the lead author for Chapter on “Advocacy, Communication and Social Marketing” in WHO’s Guidelines for Food Fortification with Micronutrients (2006). The chapter incorporated her experience developing “CDCynergy: International Micronutrients Edition,” done as the Director, Division of Health Communication at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (1995-2003). Claudia worked in Geneva as the first Communications Director for GAIN, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition. In her travels, she has developed health or nutrition communication programs in more than 20 countries around the globe.
