16th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases

The Global Patient Safety Challenge, a key programme of the World Alliance for Patient Safety was presented at the 16th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases which was attended by more than 5 000 microbiologists and infectious disease professionals. Professor Pittet, Leader of the Challenge, gave a keynote presentation and members of the World Alliance for Patient Safety Secretariat participated in the congress with presentations and posters. The audiences showed great interest in this programme.
The 16th ECCMID brought together participants involved in all aspects of infectious diseases to share their expertise and describe new developments in biomedical research, diagnostic procedures, vaccines, anti-infective agents and public health issues. The annual ECCMID is one of the largest international meetings on infectious diseases and microbiology.
