Second Intercountry Consultation on Patient Safety
The consultation took place in Muscat, Oman and was inaugurated by the Minister of Health of Oman. Other key speakers included Sir Liam Donaldson, Chair of the World Alliance for Patient Safety, Dr Hussein Gezairy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean and Dr Tawfik Khoja, Director General of the Executive Board of the Council of Health Ministers for GCC States ( Gulf Cooperation Council ). The GCC states are: Bahrain,Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The consultation reviewed and developed the regional strategic plan on patient safety, endorsed by regional committee in EMRO, in 2005.
