PROHIBIT - Prevention of Hospital Infections by Intervention & Training
Review and survey on infection control guidelines and programmes in European countries
Based on a literature review and on a survey among all 27 European Union Member States, as well as Croatia, Iceland, Norway, and Switzerland, national and sub-national guidelines on surgical site infections (SSI), catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI), catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), and Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) were identified. The results of this work offer a unique map and comparison of guidelines’ content and recommendations across Europe.
This part of PROHIBIT has been led by the infection control team of the Universitätsklinikum, Freiburg, Germany.
