World Hearing Day: 3 March

World Hearing Day is an annual advocacy event held on 3 March. Designated at the First International Conference on Prevention and Rehabilitation of Hearing Impairment in Beijing, China in 2007, the day aims to raise awareness and promote ear and hearing care across the world.

World Hearing Day 2017

World Hearing Day 2017 highlights sound investments to prevent hearing loss

On 3 March 2017 WHO joined partners in drawing attention to the economic impact of hearing loss through the theme “Action for hearing loss: make a sound investment”. WHO released a new report, namely Global costs of unaddressed hearing loss and cost-effectiveness of interventions. An event was organized at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland to mark the Day.

World Hearing Day 2016

The theme for World Hearing Day 2016 was ‘Childhood hearing loss: act now, here is how!’ This drew attention to the fact that the majority of causes which lead to hearing loss in children can be prevented through public health measures.

2015 - Make listening safe

In 2015, the theme for World Hearing Day was ‘Make Listening Safe’. This theme drew attention to the rising problem of noise-induced hearing loss due to recreational exposure.
