Increasing access to diagnostics through technology transfer and local production
This report presents an overview of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) device technology transfer and local production of diagnostic tests for developing countries. The report identifies needs and analyses trends in the local production of diagnostics and related technology transfer and presents a series of recommendations to enhance technology transfer through promotion of the importance of the industry and its value to public health; support for capacity building particularly in the field of regulation; and the development of new business models and approaches to financing and marketing of diagnostics.
