Sarah Brown speaks for mothers and children

Mrs Sarah Brown has lent her personal support to the cause of women and children since her husband took office in June 2007. Mrs Brown has regularly been involved in high-level advocacy actions focused on the tragedy of and need to prevent unnecessary deaths of millions of mothers and their young, vulnerable children. Mrs Brown is a patron of the White Ribbon Alliance (WRA) for Safe Motherhood and committed to support WRA's Maternal Mortality Campaign advocating for Millennium Development Goal 5 on improving maternal health. Her actions include:
- Speeches high places which point to the maternal and child death tragedy, the related Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5, and need for action
- The organization of special, high-level events targeted largely at influential women throughout the globe, to raise awareness of the problem and solution
