14 NOVEMBER 2010 / NEW DELHI – At the final Closing Session of the Partners’ Forum in New Delhi, partners released the Outcome Document from the PMNCH Partners’ Forum: Delhi Declaration 2010 - “From Pledges to Action and Accountability”. The Forum’s Closing Session included final Statements of Commitment from PMNCH Constituencies and partners, followed by the release of the final Outcome document—the Delhi Declaration 2010, which echoed a Declaration from partners in 2005 in Delhi which led to the creation of PMNCH. The session ended with speeches from the PMNCH Chair Dr Julio Frenk and high-level Ministers/Secretaries from the Government of India.

The Closing Session also celebrated Children’s Day in India as well as the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru -- with member of India’s Planning Commission Syeda Hameed presenting the keynote address. The Minister, Secretary and Additional Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Hon Ghulam Nabi Azad, K. Sujatha Rao and P.K. Pradhan respectively also gave a final resume from the Government of India and officially thanked partners for a successful Forum.

The PMNCH Chair also thanked the Partners for their commitment, and looked forward to collaborative action together. He congratulated participants not only for their work at the Forum, but also for their global action over the past year and underlined the basis for global action for health, which is fundamentally a national concern. “We need global action to create global public good for knowledge, global coordination to achieve shared goals and global solidarity, because we live in an unequal world and health is a human right.”
