Summary of Outreach Efforts

Summary

To draft and review the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health, a highly collaborative consultation process was conducted. The Global Strategy was developed under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary-General with the support and facilitation of The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health.

The review process was extensive. The Global Strategy was discussed at the World Health Assembly, the UN General Assembly, the ECOSOC High-Level Segment, the G8 and G20 Summits, the Women Deliver conference, the Pacific Health Summit, the UN Global Compact Meeting and the African Union Summit, the Jakarta Special Ministerial Meeting on Millennium Development Goals in Asia and the Pacific. At these and other meetings (see list below), countries and organizations attended review sessions on drafts of the Global Strategy and provided input directly that was included as appropriate into the document. A summary of feedback from the Women Deliver conference and the World Health Assembly meetings is provided on the PMNCH website.
