Bolivia has national plans for integrated health care for children under five, sexual and reproductive health, safe motherhood and birth, family planning, and food and nutrition. A national health policy was established in 2005 and the government is working to bring all partners together under ministry-led plans and do away with parallel structures, strengthen the ministry and aims to minimize outside consultancies. Technical coordination groups have been set up such for: Safe Motherhood, Sexual & Reproductive Health; Integrated Management of Childhood Illness, and the Maternal and Child Health Epidemiology Program. Another goal is to get health staff out to the community as opposed to waiting for people to come to the facilities.
