Event dates: 20 May 2010
Venue: Palais des Nations, Room IV
The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon has launched a global effort to accelerate progress on women's and children's health ahead of September's MDG Summit. The global effort builds on previous discussions within the UN, as well as regional commitments and plans. It seeks to revitalize existing commitments, secure new commitments and ensure accountability for delivering results. The Global Strategy is at the core of this global effort.
This special session at the World Health Assembly introduced the Global Strategy for Women's anc Children's Health and invited discussion about the vital role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in this effort. The following played coordinating or participatory roles in the Consultation: the Government of Norway and the Government of Tanzania , the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General , The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health and World Vision.
