Glogal Strategy for Women and Children Health banner

World teams with UN Secretary-General in new effort to save lives of millions of women and children

Globally, the two top causes of death in women of reproductive age are HIV and complications related to pregnancy and childbearing. The AIDS epidemic and reproductive health are integrally linked since the majority of HIV infections are sexually transmitted or associated with pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding. By integrating HIV and maternal and child health responses, we can reach more people and make better progress towards saving millions of lives and meeting the joint health goals.
