The Partnership’s 20th Board meeting
18-19 MAY 2017 | OTTAWA, CANADA
The Partnership’s Board meeting has begun in Ottawa following closely on the heels of a successful and energetic Global Adolescent Health Conference co-hosted by PMNCH in partnership with CanWaCh, Global Affairs Canada, Every Woman Every Child and WHO.
Canadian leadership on child and adolescent health has been significant in recent years and the conference is a testament to the government’s commitment to “Unleashing the Power of a Generation” and stimulating greater action by all partners on adolescent health.
Board members will be hoping to carry that energy into discussions over the next two days that will centre on key topics including how to achieve closer alignment of core partners within the Every Woman Every Child (EWEC) architecture, strategic issues that impact on EWEC focus areas and the implications for PMNCH, as well as agreement on objectives and governance structure for the 2018 Partners’ Forum.
18 May: Day one
The first day of the board meeting heard opening remarks from Board Vice-Chair Mr C.K. Mishra, Government of India as well as remarks and scene setting from Peter Boehm, Deputy Minister of International Development, Government of Canada. One of the more significant decisions the board will need to make later today will be on PMNCH’s closer alignment with Every Woman Every Child, including one brand, one website one advocacy strategy and one joint workplan.
