WHO spearheads vaccination awareness weeks
20-26 APRIL 2009 - This week, two regions - Americas and Europe - are uniting to vaccinate millions of children, adults and seniors. The European Immunization Week (EIW) is taking place from 20 to 26 April and the Vaccination week in the Americas (VWA) will be held from 25 April to 2 May.

For the first time, the EIW is using innovative Internet-based viral techniques and social media to advocate for immunization across Europe. An animated video, which posted on YouTube, aims to spread the EIW message virally (online) as well as driving traffic to the EIW website. Social networking sites such as Facebook, BKontakte and Studivz are also used to reinforce the message.
