LSHTM : Seeking new collaborators to join the WOMAN Trial: an international effort to reduce maternal mortality
APRIL 2011 - Doctors with an interest in maternal health are invited to join the WOMAN Trial, a randomised controlled trial assessing the effects of tranexamic acid on death, hysterectomy and other relevant outcomes in women with postpartum haemorrhage (PPH). The trial is co-ordinated from LSHTM and recruitment has already started in Nigeria, Nepal, Cameroon, Albania, Zambia and Pakistan, where over 1000 women have been enrolled so far. The results of this trial could help save the lives of thousands of mothers who die from PPH each year.
