Private sector luncheon

21 SEPTEMBER - This private sector luncheon was hosted by Merk, GE Healthcare, Intel, Wellbeing Foundation of Nigeria, Government of Norway (NORAD), PMNCH and United Nations Foundation, and was attended by over forty experienced leaders in the public and private sector who have made commitments to Every Woman, Every Child.

Aligning with the launch of the report “Innovating for Women and Children” as a part of the Global Campaign on Health MDGs, this event convened key leaders to learn, dialogue and develop effective private sector engagement to improve women’s and children’s health.

Presentations from industry leaders Merk, GE, Intel along with the Wellbeing Foundation discussed the details and nuances to their commitments as well as the recognized opportunities for partnerships. Through table-level dialogue, attendees focused on improving capacities to address health challenges, foster sustainable development and promote institutional changes through innovations and partnerships.

Table hosts JP Morgan, Nestle, Vestergaard Frandsen,WHO and NORAD contributed their experience and insights as attendees explored their connections and discuss partnerships, innovations and sustainable business models that will foster progress.

PMNCH discussed its commitments to the diversity of private sector engagement through developing private sector membership, of which Merck was the first to join, to expand business participation and add experienced leadership and innovation to support MDG 4 & 5.

This luncheon sought to build a consensus towards effective private sector engagement in women’s and children’s health, moving from pilots to sustainable partnership models with global health stakeholders.
