Southern Vaccine Advocacy Challenge (SVAC)
OCTOBER 2011 - Over the past year, the Public and Political Support Working Group of the Decade of Vaccines Collaboration has been working to develop models of best practices to strengthen support for vaccines and their financing. As part of this process, the working group identified gaps in the vaccine advocacy landscape, including the need for more – and stronger –voices from the global South. The Southern Vaccine Advocacy Challenge (SVAC) will test a way to fill this gap through open calls for proposals for innovative vaccine advocacy initiatives from organizations in low- and middle-income countries.
Launched as a pilot project, SVAC will award five grants of up to $100 000 USD each to support an initiative around a specific vaccine-related event, issue or policy.
Only organizations in low- and middle-income countries will be eligible to apply for funding, and grants will be selected based on the project’s likelihood for impact, innovation and creativity, scalability, and technical merit and execution plans. The duration of the grants will be 6 months. Awardees will be expected to submit a final report, along with publishable, professional-level photograph, videos or stories of the activity or event.
Deadline for proposals: October 24, 2011 at 11:59p.m. ET
Please submit queries and completed proposals to vaccinechallenge@mrcglobal.org
