Global Fund Board establishes transitional funding to replace Round 11

22 NOVEMBER 2011 - In light of current resource constraints, the Board of the Global Fund to Fight HIV, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria has decided to replace its next funding round – Round 11 - with a Transitional Funding Mechanism to fund only “the continuation of essential prevention, treatment and/or care services currently financed by the Global Fund”, according to the Global Fund website. The decision was made at the Global Fund Board meeting in Accra, Ghana.

The Board statement says it will work to develop a new funding model consistent with the Global Fund Strategy (2012-2016), with a view towards funding proposals under the new model beginning in early 2014 and revise application and approval process for renewals.
