Who?

The High Level Taskforce on International Innovative Financing for Health Systems

The members of the Taskforce comprise a small number of leading figures in the international community selected on the basis of the perspectives they can each offer on innovative financing, health systems or political feasibility.

The Taskforce has been supported by two technical working groups: Working Group I Health Systems; and Working Group II- Innovative Financing. A full list of the Taskforce and Working Group I and II members can be found on HLTF members link above and on the right.

WORKING GROUP 1 ON COSTS AND CONTSTRAINTS: To foster a better understanding of the key elements of well-functioning health systems, analyse existing financing gaps, identify the main constraints to scaling up interventions in support of the health Millennium Development goals at the national level and suggest ways in which to address those constraints.

WORKING GROUP 2 ON INNOVATIVE MECHANISMS AND CHANELLING: To analyse the range of existing innovative financing instruments to respond to the health systems constraints identified in working Group I, make recommendations on instruments that are ready for expansion and examine possible new or complementary approaches and review the efficiency of the present channelling of international funds for health and identify and changes required.
