Every Woman Every Child
Two side events related to the Every Woman, Every Child effort were co-organized with PMNCH at the 2012 World Economic Forum (WEF). A high-level luncheon addressed reasons and ways for business and government leaders to invest in women and children´s health. PMNCH also co-organized a side event with Johnson&Johnson, Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FSG and the UN Foundation, to discuss a draft Guide examining ways for companies to contribute women’s and children’s health.
Thursday 26 January 2012 - High-level luncheon
A high-level luncheon focusing on the Every Woman Every Child initiative was held with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and South African Archbishop and Peace Prize Laureate, Desmond Tutu, who represented the activist group of leaders, “The Elders”.
Facilitated by Mabel van Oranje, CEO of The Elders, other speakers and participants included the Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon, Grameen Bank’s Muhammad Yunus, UNFPA Executive Director Babatunde Osotimehin, UNAIDS’s Deputy Executive Director, Jan Beagle, the Chief Executive Officers from Merck and Johnson and Johnson, as well as PMNCH Director, Carole Presern. The side event was hosted by the leading Dutch multinational companies, in collaboration with the UN Foundation, the Ford Foundation and PMNCH.
