Reproductive health supplement in Italian weekender

PMNCH/O.N.Da publish supplement on Reproductive Health in widely-read weekend paper in Italy

14 NOVEMBER 2009 | ROME – One of Italy’s most widely-read newspapers, Il Corriere della Sera, has published a supplement co-produced by The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH), the Italian NGO O.N.Da (Osservatorio Nazionale sulla Salute della Donna) and the Reproductive Health Department of the World Health Organization (WHO). This supplement focuses on the high prevalence of Caesarean sections performed in Italy.

The idea to publish this supplement in the popular Italian newspaper follows the passing of a motion earlier this year by the Italian Senate on this topic. The initiative was led by a group of women Italian parliamentarians who worked with the WHO and PMNCH in developing a joint motion which addressed the C-section rate, as well as a call to increase investment on international aid for maternal, newborn and child health.
