Asia Pacific Investment Case Meeting held

Bangkok 17-19 March 2008 - A group of technical Bangkok, 17-19 March 2008 - A group of technical experts met in Bangkok from 17-19 March 2008 to continue the development of the "Asia Pacific Investment Case for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health". The group is comprised of economists and public health specialists, and make part of the Coogee Beach Group, an informal but high-level group of agencies working to accelerate progress and harmonize activities for MNCH in the Asia and Pacific region This "investment case" will act as a blueprint aimed at convincing governments and donors to invest more in MNCH- which will not only help meet the MDGs 4 & 5 but also bring about social, political and economic returns. The investment case will be shared with stakeholders and disseminated widely once it has been finalized.

Francophone Health Care Professionals (HCPs) meet in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, 26 March 2008 - Health decision-makers joined more than 60 health care professionals (HCPs) from several Francophone regional countries and Haiti, to spend three days mapping out concrete plans to increase their role in national MNC planning . The opening ceremony included speeches from Burkina Faso's State Minister and Minister of Health, Dr Alain Bédouma Yoda and Mrs Priscille Zongo, wife of the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, speaking on behalf of the First Lady of Burkina Faso, Mrs. Chantal Compaoré and Dr Francisco Songane, Director of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health.
