March 2008 - The MDGs: Are we on track?

Dr Songane and several leaders of The Partnership wrote key articles for a series on the Millennium Development Goals published by the UN Chronicle, a journal from the United Nations. The UN Chronicle has devoted two special issues to the MDGs, asking: Are we on track to achieve the MDGs? What has been accomplished and what remains to be done? This special issue features articles from 33 contributors, many of them important leaders in support of the Millennium Development Goals."

We would like to highlight the following articles from The Partnership leaders: - "Keep the promise for mothers and children" by Francisco Songane, Director, The Partnership; " Health and the MDGs", by Dr Margaret Chan, Director General, World Health Organization ; " Education is key to reducing child mortality", by Ann M. Veneman, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). Other key topics include: newborn and reproductive health in Africa, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health through education and making pregnancy safer in the least developed countries.
