Mission statement
Georgetown University's Institute for Reproductive Health engages in research and advocacy, and provides technical assistance, related to birth spacing, gender equality, and youth empowerment. Since its founding in 1985, affiliated with Georgetown's Medical Center, the Institute has developed and tested fertility awareness-based family planning methods, collaborated with partners ranging from WHO to ministries of health and in-country NGOs in Africa/Asia/Latin America to increase access to effective, culturally-appropriate approaches to birth spacing.
