Mission statement

Simavi implements programma's that are aimed at prevention of disseases and better care for pregnant women and mothers in Sub-Sahara Africa and South-Asia (Bahgladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia). Besides our own programme's, we work within an Alliance of Dutch organisations on better Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, which includes sexual education (especially for youth), increased knowledge about and use of contraceptives, and improved care for pregnant women and mothers. Achievements range from very local improved maternal care and increased knowledge among communities about the importance of prenatal and postantal care, and safe delivery (skilled birth attendance), to successful advocacy within the Netherlands for increased investments in and prioritization of SRHR including Maternal Health, and at the UN (ICPD and CSW).
