The Partnership Board meets

The Partnership Board is to hold its second meeting from 2-3 December 2007 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. At this meeting, the present Chair of the Board, Mr. Kul Gautam (UNICEF Deputy Executive Director) will hand over to his successor Mrs. Joy Phumaphi, as decided by the vote of the Board this fall. Mrs. Phumaphi, Vice President at the World Bank and head of the Human Development Network, will chair The Partnership Board for the next two years.

New NGO Board representatives

The Board will also welcome new representatives: the Minister of Health of Mali, Mr. Oumar Toure; Mrs. Bridget Lynch, representing the International Confederation of Midwives; and Julian Schweitzer of the World Bank. CARE International was voted the new NGO representative on the Board, and will be represented by Mrs. Phoebe Mueni Kilele of CARE in Mozambique. Following the meeting all Board documents will be posted in the Partnership information section of the website.

Membership passes 200

New applicants were approved in the week of 26 November, bringing the total number of members to 218. We would like to extend a welcome to our many new members.
