The Partnership Update - November 2007
Country Support Working Group (CSWG)
Members of the Country Support Working Group visited Tanzania in mid-November to identify opportunities and next steps for the development of the One MNCH Plan as well as provide technical input to the latest version of the Plan. A full report to be posted in the Countries section of the web.
19 October 2007 - The CSWG has undertaken the first step of a mapping exercise regarding partner capacities in Ethiopia, Nigeria and Tanzania. The exercise will serve to better assess what assistance can be provided in which countries by what partners. In its preliminary phase, the mapping will outline capacities of the CSWG core members. CSWG hopes that mapping will be furthered in depth and scope at country level. Some countries have already launched a resource mapping process. For instance, Nigeria has begun a comprehensive mapping of all donors in the health sector.
Review of Costing Tools Relevant to the Health MDGs Technical Consultation
The Partnership in collaboration with several partners - NORAD, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNAIDS, UNDP, WHO, World Bank, MSH, and USAID through the Health Systems 20/20 and BASICS Projects - is conducting a technical review of 13 costing tools relevant to the health MDGs. An external technical assessment is currently being conducted. A technical consultation will be held in Senegal on 8-10 January 2008 to learn from the experiences of users of the tools at the country-level, present the findings of the external technical assessment, identify possible improvements, and discuss the development of a "tool-kit" to assist countries considering to conduct costing analyses.
