Canada: announcement to champion MNCH
Exciting news for MNCH came on 26 January 2010, when Canada’s Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, announced that Canada would "champion a major initiative to improve the health of women and children in the world's poorest regions", making this "the top priority" for the up-coming G8 meeting. Canada will host the G8 and G20 in Ontario from 25-27 June 2010. In December 2009, PMNCH co-hosted (jointly with Canadian member SOGC) a successful parliamentary breakfast briefing on MNCH. The PMNCH has applauded the Prime Minister’s statement.

Member news - Haiti relief
The earthquake which struck Haiti on 12 January not only caused the deaths of thousands, it also caused wide spread devastation, leaving many of the most vulnerable members of society without access to much needed food, water and medication. Partners have warned that many of those hardest hit are pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and young children. On the PMNCH website, find highlights from PMNCH partners' Haiti relief efforts and campaigns. Please tell us about your work in Haiti and share with others by filling out our Web contribution form.
