The Partnership Updates

The Partners' Forum, Dar es Salaam, 17-20 April 2007

The Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health will hold its first-ever meeting of members in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, 17-20 April 2007. All official members of The Partnership are warmly invited to register to attend. The meeting will provide an opportunity to shape the strategies and priorities of The Partnership, and will provide a global platform for high-level advocacy.

The deadline for applications is 16 March 2007.

We urge members to link to the on-line application and register as soon as possible.

Events will begin on the evening of Tuesday 17 April 2007 with a keynote address by the Ambassador Gertrude Mongella, President of the Pan-African Parliament, to be followed by a reception. Plenary sessions will begin on Wednesday morning and will run until the evening of Friday 20 April. During this time, there will be parallel meetings of The Partnership's six constituency groups (Government, UN/Multilaterals, Donors, NGOs, Academics, and Health Care Professionals) and four working groups (Advocacy, Country Support, Effective Interventions, Monitoring & Evaluation).

Expected outcomes of the meeting include the development of Working Group workplans for 2007 and endorsement of the Partnership's governance mechanisms. A full-day Steering Committee meeting will follow on Saturday 21 April.

The Partners' Forum will be held at the Movenpick Hotel in Dar es Salaam. Information on the Forum is available at: http://www.who.int/pmnch/events/partnerforum2007/en/index.html.

A very limited amount of sponsorship funding will be available for members who find the travel costs prohibitive, such as academic members, health professionals and nongovernmental organizations, especially from developing countries.
