Global Campaign For Health Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

New York 26 September - The Global Campaign for Health MDGs was launched by the Norwegian Prime Minister, Jens Stoltenberg, together with a network of heads of states on 26 September at the opening of the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting in New York. This was accompanied by an unprecedented announcement from the Norwegian Prime Minister of US $ 1 billion dollars over ten years for maternal and child health, as well as US $ 125 million from Prime Minister of The Netherlands, Jan Balkenende.

Deliver Now For Women+Children

New York 26 September - Deliver Now for Women+Children - a Deliver Now for Women+Children - a global advocacy drive focusing on MDGs 4 and 5 and key component of The Global Campaign for Health MDGs, was also launched 26 September in Bryant Park in New York, amidst rallies in the city centre with key figures and celebrities including The First Lady of Zambia Maureen Mwanawasa, singer Chaka Khan and Goodwill Ambassador and Ethiopian model, Liya Kebede.

Global Promise and Deliver Now website

The New York rally culminated in a call to action to endorse "The Global Promise to Deliver Now for Women and Children" through "thumbprint" signatures on a giant banner wall and on the new Deliver Now website ( ).

UN Women leaders panel

New York 26 September - UN Women leaders and heads of the UN Agencies with a mandate related to Millennium Development Goals 4 & 5 - UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO - showed their commitment in a panel discussion at the UN hosted by the Deputy Secretary General, Asha-Rose Migiro.
