This paper is part of a PLoS Medicine series on maternal, neonatal, and child health in Africa. Several papers  have reviewed effective health interventions for children, newborns, and mothers. The continuum of care framework for delivering these key interventions throughout the lifecycle recommends combining single evidence-based interventions into eight MNCH health-service packages at differing health system service delivery levels.
