Overview
This paper is part of a PLoS Medicine series on maternal, neonatal, and child health in Africa. Several papers [5] have reviewed effective health interventions for children, newborns, and mothers. The continuum of care framework for delivering these key interventions throughout the lifecycle recommends combining single evidence-based interventions into eight MNCH health-service packages at differing health system service delivery levels. Another paper in this series in PLoS Medicine on maternal, neonatal, and child health in sub-Saharan Africa summarizes how these interventions can be packaged and shows their current coverage
