Overview

A Lancet article reporting a significant reduction in neonatal mortality through home-based care is one of six articles nominated to receive The Lancet "Paper of the Year 2008." Readers are invited to vote for the "Paper of the Year" recipient online through January 12th.

Save the Children's Saving Newborn Lives program co-funded the three-year study in Sylhet, Bangladesh with USAID in partnership with Johns Hopkins University and the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B). Johns Hopkins University Professor Abdullah Baqui is the lead author of the June 7 2008 article, Effect of community-based newborn-care intervention package implemented through two service-delivery strategies in Sylhet district, Bangladesh: a cluster-randomised controlled trial.

The winner will be announced in the January 24th edition of The Lancet.
