Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal: supplement on neonatal infection

Publisher/Organizer: WHO, Save the Children
Publication date: January 2009, Volume 28, Issue 1 Supplement
Language: English

Overview

Severe infections cause more than one-third of the annual four million newborn deaths. Preventing and treating infections in developing country settings remains one of our greatest public health challenges.

January's Pediatric Infectious Diseases Journal supplement summarizes the burden of neonatal infections in developing countries, presents the evidence for mortality reduction found in community-based studies, and examines potential infection management strategies, especially for sepsis at the community level.

“Serious Bacterial Infections Among Neonates and Young Infants in Developing Countries: Evaluation of Etiology and Therapeutic Management Strategies in Community Settings” was supported by the World Health Organization and Save the Children.
