The majority of developing countries are expected to fall short of the Millennium Development Goal targets for reducing maternal and child mortality by 2015. Commissioned by the independent Expert Review Group (iERG) of the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health to inform its report to the UN Secretary-General during the 2012 UN General Assembly, the latest report from the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH) sheds light on the big picture reasons why more progress is not being made to end these needless deaths.

On 25 September 2012 PMNCH will hold a live Twitter Chat to discuss how we can do a better job keeping our reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) commitments to the world’s most vulnerable women and children. The chat will feature Lancet Editor and iERG Chair Richard Horton and PMNCH Technical Officer Economics, Henrik Axelson, who helped author the PMNCH 2012 Report - Report - Analysing Progress on Commitments to the Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health.
