RHR annual highlights and achievement reports
Through its work in research, research capacity strengthening and programme development, WHO’s Department of Reproductive Health and Research (RHR), including HRP, contributes to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), in particular the targets for achieving universal access to reproductive health by 2015.
Highlights
Achievements by RHR include innovations for saving women’s and children’s lives, in
particular in the context of the UN Secretary-General’s Global Strategy
for Women’s and Children’s Health, and the ICPD Programme of Action. Countries are supported to improve quality of sexual and reproductive
health care through the generation, synthesis, adaptation and adoption
of evidence-based information and technical capacity strengthening.
Biennial Report 2008-2009
This biennial report summarizes progress in research that offers solutions to maternal mortality and to overall improvement of various elements of sexual and reproductive health.
Progress report – Reproductive health strategy – to accelerate progress towards the attainment of international development goals and targets
The report summarizes issues related to the WHO Global Reproductive Health Strategy and its implementation of operationalization. It is not meant to provide a quantitative assessment of the status of sexual and reproductive health in all countries. The regional and country offices of WHO collaborated with the respective ministries of health to collect information which was analysed and reported to the World Health Assembly in 2010.
