A comprehensive review of sexual practices among young people as found in 34 case-studies done in 24 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America conducted between 1992 and 1996. A number of recommendations are offered. These cover pragmatic recommendations to build negotiation skills, dispel misconceptions, counter sexual violence, involve young people in programme design, tailor fertility regulation services to meet young people’s needs and communicate the messages that every unprotected sexual act involves the risk of contracting an infection or of unwanted pregnancy.
