This is the report of an assessment that was carried out in Viet Nam and which was used by policy makers to guide the development of a policy on contraceptive introduction for Viet Nam. It looked beyond the need for the introduction of new contraceptive methods to the broader issues of method mix in the context of quality of care. It also reviewed the characteristics of the service delivery system, the social context, and included women and men's perspectives.
