A woman’s ability to choose whether and when to become pregnant directly affects her health and well-being. Voluntary family planning saves lives and accelerates sustainable human and economic development (1). It leads to realization of human rights and promotes empowerment of women and adolescent girls, enabling them to complete their education, seize better economic opportunities and fulfil their capabilities. Enabling women and adolescent girls to make decisions about their health and future is one of the most cost-effective ways of creating more sustainable and thriving societies around the world.
