Research issues in sexual and reproductive health for low- and middle-income countries
The field of sexual and reproductive health is complex and multifaceted. Research in this area requires a multidisciplinary approach that includes basic, biomedical, epidemiological, social and behavioural, and policy and health systems research. As a first step in an international consultative process to identify gaps in and priorities for research in this field, this paper outlines a conceptual framework for sexual and reproductive health and a number of thematic and cross-cutting research issues that low and middle-income countries need to address.
